A young woman had consulted several hospitals about a large abdominal swelling before she came to us. Dr. Rajnish Kumar Thakur, our founder and chief surgeon, and our surgical team removed an abdominal tumour weighing about 10 kg. A local news channel spoke with her the day after the operation.
Why it matters: A large abdominal tumour needs careful planning, anaesthesia support and ICU backup. With our operation theatre, anaesthesia team and ICU here in Gopalganj, her family did not have to leave their own district for this surgery.

A young girl had swallowed a coin, and her family had been told that only a hospital in Gorakhpur could remove it. At our hospital, we took the coin out through the mouth using upper GI endoscopy, with no cut on the abdomen.
What parents should know: If your child swallows a coin, please do not force vomiting or give food. Bring the child to our emergency department straight away. An X-ray shows where the coin is, and in many cases we can remove it by endoscopy.
